DR. Nadine Broeze

Specialist oncological breast surgery

Welcome

I am a female surgeon with a primary interest in oncological breast surgery; and believe strongly in the multidisciplinary approach to treating breast cancer. To this end I engage with specialists in plastic surgery, radiology, oncology, wound-care specialists and physiotherapy, as needed, to achieve the best outcome for my patients.

My training as a medical doctor started at the University of Pretoria and my specialist surgeon qualification was obtained through the University of the Witwatersrand.

As a woman I also appreciate the importance of appearance as part of femininity and your identity, and strive to balance cosmetically pleasing results with sound oncological management principles.

Each case is individualized and thoroughly discussed, to give you as the patient the best possible advice and options. Meet the Team

Dr Anne Kruger

Specialist Anaesthesiologist and ICU Specialist

MBBCh, BSc(Hons), DA(SA), FCA, Cert Crit Care

Hi, I am Dr Anne Kruger, one of the specialist Anaesthesiologists working with Drs Marais and Broeze.

I have a special interest in opioid free/sparing anaesthesia and will tailor this specifically to the type of anaesthetic you will need.

The opioid group of drugs include morphine, omnopon, pethidine and tramal. These are associated with many potential adverse events such as:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • A decrease in blood pressure
  • Hallucinations

Any of these may compromise your surgery and may even contribute to a longer in-hospital stay.

The vast majority of the types of surgery your surgeon performs lends itself particularly well to opioid free anaesthesia.

Your safety and comfort are a priority. If I feel you require an opioid for pain control, then I will use it. But usually in these situations very little is required and hence the side effect profile is limited.

No anaesthetic is entirely risk free. However, I will discuss this when I see you beforehand.

Should you have any questions prior to me seeing you, please do not hesitate to contact Drs Marais and Broeze’s rooms. They will forward your concerns.

I look forward to meeting you.
